Hollidaysburg Little League Coverage

Covering the team

One my absolute favorite things I've done during my time at WTAJ is covering the Hollidaysburg Little League teams run in the 2021 Little League World Series. The community engagement and the overarching feeling that everyone in our coverage area was behind this team was something special. Covering local sports, especially youth, seeing these kids' live reactions to their success was something that was extremely fulfilling. To add to that, to be able to cover it for WTAJ daily, even on my scheduled days off, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I'm grateful to have had.

Articles

During their historic run, I wrote 13 different stories about the team, which acquired more than 95,000 views  These primarily included follow-along game articles but also, in collaboration with WTAJ Reporter Jack McCune, a feature on "Bull Power" which is what helped energize. Below are links to two of the stories.

Facebook Interaction

During this run, our Facebook page was extremely active in promoting our content. This included links to stories and creating graphics. Our posts were shared by people all over the area, including to post that had just over 950 shares.

Alongside my boss and digital executive producer at WTAJ Catherine Newman, we created some of the following graphics for the stories and for social media. One of the graphics can be seen above.
